Our Preschool is a community kindergarten managed by a volunteer Committee of Management. All committee positions automatically become vacant as of the New Year. We are a Preschool that values our family’s participation and partnership to ensure every child is provided the best early learning experience we can offer.

We are a smaller, not for profit community Preschool. This means we rely on our families to contribute to our committee that are responsible for supporting the organisational requirements of the Preschool. So, our amazing Educators can focus on creating learning experiences for our children. Joining the committee is a great opportunity to discover how the kindergarten operates, be involved in the successful running of the Preschool and form friendships with other families.

As a member of Clifton Springs Preschool, we recommend families to participate in the committee meetings while their child attends. This ensures the service continues to meet the needs of the families who attend and the requirements of our funding body. Participation is not just for parents, please feel welcome to invite Grandparents and special people in your child’s lives who would like to be involved in the Preschool and your child’s early learning experience.

COMMITTEE OF MANAGEMENT POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

1. EXECUTIVE MEMBER – PRESIDENT:
Represents the committee to the outside world. They are supported by our Administration and the Educational Leader, Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA) and the Department of Education (DET).

2. EXECUTIVE MEMBER – VICE PRESIDENT:
The main focus of this role is as the staff liaison officer to all staff employed at the kindergarten. The Vice-President is required to work closely with the President and acts as a support where necessary.

3. EXECUTIVE MEMBER – TREASURER:
The Treasurer is supported by our Administration Officer and Bookkeeper. The role involves presenting the monthly reports from the bookkeeper to the committee at meetings, approving payments and drafting/tracking the budget.

4. EXECUTIVE MEMBER – SECRETARY:
Responsible for organising the agenda, meeting minutes and collection of the mail from the PO Box.

5. GENERAL MEMBER – FUNDRAISING OFFICER:
Co-ordinates fundraising efforts throughout the year. If the committee decides to take on large scale fundraising, then a sub-committee may be formed to assist in the organisation and running of these events.

6. GENERAL MEMBER – PUBLICITY OFFICER:
Promote the kindergarten externally, as well as keeping current families informed via a monthly newsletter and by managing the kinder social media accounts. In conjunction with Administration Officer and the web designer keeping the website current.

7. GENERAL MEMBER – MAINTENANCE OFFICER/OH&S OFFICER:
In consultation with staff, determines maintenance requirements, attends to repairs or obtains quotes where necessary and responsible to work in conjunction with the executive members to ensure the centre, staff, and committee are adhering to all OH&S policies.

8. GENERAL MEMBER – HEALTH AND WELLBEING OFFICER:
Feedback to committee on Healthy Together Geelong initiatives directly and indirectly influencing our preschool.
